La Paz is set within an awe inspiring frame of snowcapped mountains and gives this city the honor as the highest capital in the world. La Paz is a city of contrasts with ancient and modern structures protected by the "Guardian of La Paz", Mount Illimani. Visit the Plaza Murillo, where the cathedral and the Government Palace are located. Then, continue to the famous colonial street "Calle Jaen" where interesting museums are clustered together, followed by the visit to the typical "Mercado de las Brujas" or the Witches' Market, located along narrow streets near the San Francisco Church. This church was founded in 1549 and is a great area to find traditional handicrafts and artwork. The tour continues to Obrajes, Calacoto and La Florida residential areas in the south and the well known Moon Valley, where erosion has given place to the most exotic and curious surface forms.

The tour will introduce you to the friendly population and take you along streets lined with neoclassical façades and splendid colonial buildings. You will also visit historical places and buildings, of which the most notable include the central square – Plaza 25 de Mayo – which is ringed with significant buildings including the cathedral and the Casa de la Libertad. The latter is one of the most important historical monuments in the country, as it was here that the events leading to the country’s independence took place. The city is also home to a host of interesting religious buildings including the beautiful San Francisco Church. This morning you will explore the cit of Potosi, a UNESCO site that preserves 400 years of history. In our guided visit we will visit the Royal mint, the cathedral and the “Pasaje de Siete Vueltas” (street of seven turns) whose distinct architectural construction shows how early settlers tried to build their residences and shops to protect them from the lay winds of the Alto Plano. Afterward we drive towards Cerro Rico. First we go to the Mercado Minero (Miners Market) to buy gifts for the miners and offerings for, “Pachamama” (Mother Earth) and “El Tio” (Mine’s Guardian). The gifts and offerings consist of: coca leafs, tobacco and alcohol. We arrive to the mine entrance and we are given a special outfit which includes a coat, rubber boots and a helmet. Now that we are ready we enter the mine; we have to first give an offering to the Pachamama and as soon as we enter the mine we give an offering to “El Tio”. Having done our offerings we move through different tunnels that take us to different levels and on our way we will see lots of miners working, so we can hand them gifts. This morning you will be met by our team for the start of your amazing adventure to Uyuni Salt Flats in our deluxe airstream campervan. This will be a full day excursion to “Uyuni Salt Lake” and Isla Pescado, the largest on earth, located on the Bolivian Andean Altiplano with 12.000 square Km; the Bolivian Andes offer stunning sceneries which can be hardly matched. The sound of silence makes the heart beats faster and the surreal pentagons of crystalline salt, the pure sky, the color lagoons, the cacti and the flamingos, certainly makes you feel that there is no other place like this in the whole world. Visit Isla Pescado, also called "Incawasi", an oasis with formations of algae and fossils, covered by thousands of giant columnar cacti, some of over a hundred years old, growing to a height of over 12 mtrs. The landscape against the background of the salt pans extending to the horizon makes it an ideal place for photography hunters. Today you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Rurrenabaque, the flight will take about 45 min and it will go over the amazing Cordillera Real. From the plane we will have views of Altiplano, snow-picks, and the green lush Amazon with meandering rivers. Upon arrival in Rurrenabaque we will be transferred to your selected hotel. In the afternoon we can explore this colorful town at the Beni River bank.(B/-/-)
Early in the morning, you will travel upriver on the Beni River in a dugout canoe, passing through the spectacular Bala Gorge. The wild and scenic Tuichi River is our gateway to Madidi National Park, and our access to the Chalalan Ecolodge. The river trip to Chalalan takes about 5 hours followed by an easy 30-minute hike from the river’s edge to the lodge. The lodge is nestled in the rainforest on the shores of Lake Chalalan. Later the guests will have the opportunity to explore the forest trails, including a stop at El Mirador (or lookout point), which offers incredible views of Lake Chalalan and the central mountain ranges of the national park. After dinner, we can take an optional night walk or canoe trip in the lake to look for wildlife such as black caimans, frogs and nocturnal birds.(B/L/D)
After breakfast our early morning trek takes us through primary rainforest featuring old-growth trees on our way to the Rayamayo and Eslabon Rivers. You will observe wild macaws, parrots, guans, and other birds from beneath the tall canopies, as well as brown capuchin and squirrel monkeys. With luck you might see black spider-monkeys, or cross a tapir or herds of white-lipped peccaries. Our local guides will share their extensive knowledge of plants, natural history, and wildlife behavior on this half-day trek with box lunch. You will return to the lodge in the early afternoon, stopping off at El Mirador(lookout point), which offers spectacular views of Lake Chalalan and the central mountain ranges of Madidi National Park. Learn about and participate in making traditional Tacana handicrafts, such as chonta seed. Later you will enjoy a nice dinner and get settled for the night.(B/L/D)
After an early lunch, will have to walk to Tuichi River, to board on our return boat to Rurrenabaque; the trip takes 3 hours down the river. Upon arrival a car will transfer us to the Airport of Rurrenabaque, for our flight to La Paz. On youir arrival you will be met and transferred to your selected hotel(B/L/-)
